Default Im on Day 3 (Quit Smoking)

Like the title states. I decided to quit smoking. This will be my 3rd day with no cigarettes. So far, everything is going well. But i sure to feel kinda WEIRD!

To start, Im kinda on edge. I THINK its gotten better since the 1st day but i really cant tell. It seems like i could easily have a panic attack or something haha.

The good news is: Physically I feel great! I have much more energy and more or a drive to do things! Im kind of a strange bird though, I have smoked for a while... but i still work out almost every day. I am im great physical health, i run at least a mile a day and have been on a strict lifting routine for about 2 years. the smoking seems like it wasnt affecting me, but just in these 3 days, i have had the BEST workouts i think i have ever had.

So what im asking is: Who has successfully quit cold turkey? Are there any tricks out there to kinda help stay sain? Im sticking with it this time.

Also, for anyone else out there wanting to quit: I STRONGLY do not recommend taking the prescription Chantix. Soon after taking it i experianced: Cold Sweats and insanely vivid dreams, Rages of anger, depression, and intense stomach pain. I had to quit taking it before i was supposed to due to this and soon after being off of it; my urge for nicotine was stronger then ever! Stay away!

oh... ur talking about cigarettes.

tip: if u go out drinking u will be ultra vulnerable to cigs, make sure u have a buddy with enough will power to pull you back or stop you from having a cig. even if you say "last one ever, i swear"

When you get an urge to light up, grab a lollipop or something it worked for me. This is typically the reason a lot of quitters gain some weight, they need something to fill the void.

It gets better after a week or so, that's the toughest period.

Avoid bars & other people who smoke for the first week as well, after that the smell will actually start to bother you, like it does for non-smokers.

It does get better/easier.

I quit by dipping. Nasty, damn straight. But it controlled cravings for cheap (nicorette is expensive) and was gross enough that I would never let myself take it up as a long time habit. Worked for me...but probably only me

google "lung cancer", print out the picture, study it closely, then wrap the cig pack in the picture.

go to the gym and run.

you'll realize that you can't do that when smoking and it won't make you want to start again.

I quit cold turkey, about 18 months ago. The best thing to help you through is the desire to stop! If you don;t want to stop, you won't stop. You have to have a reason to make you want to stop, be it purely a health issue, or the smell, the cost, whatever!
