Yeah, my sister has run the Tevis at least twice, if not more. She has won one hundred miler (not Tevis) and usually places in the top ten. She's also insane, IMHO.
Does she have a "Ride till you puke" bumper sticker on her truck?

Has she completed the Tevis? (Only about 50% of those who start complete the ride. In 2004, 250 teams started, 129 finished.)

PM me her name and I'll look her up in my book on the Tevis Cup. I'd love to e-mail her to get any advice / wisdom she may have to impart.

CG, no bumper sticker that I know of.
Magician, you have PM. She lived in the Sierra's for years (Cool), then Oregon and just moved to NC. Still getting settled in a horse area where she bought a few acres.

Last July my wife and I went to Seattle Pacific University with our daughter for a campus tour, then flew to Sacramento to spend a day looking at property in the Auburn / Placerville area. Serendipitously, we arrived the day they were running the Tevis, and if our flight hadn't been delayed we'd have gotten to the Auburn fairgrounds just ahead of the first horses coming in. As it was, we missed the first five to finish, but saw the next dozen or so.

We saw some nice places in Auburn, Cool, Garden Valley, Placerville, and so on. One was in an 8,000-acre gated community that was criss-crossed with riding trails, and about five minutes from the Western States Trail.

We hope to be moving up there (somewhere) in the next couple of years.

In the 2005 Tevis Cup Potato Richardson (yes, that's really his name: Potato Richardson) was in first place when his horse got pulled, at the 96 mile mark!

Ouch!
