INSOMNIA: any advice?
C'mon, this is a serious problem. You guys are turning it into jokes. I need to know more than just "jerking off". Herbals? Warm baths? Actually, I take warm baths every night before bed, and read books or watch movies in there. Ahhh, relaxing!
Seriously, I need some real advice.

i can tell you what not to do, watch the clock, try to figure out how much time you have to sleep at that point, think of what you gotta do the next day, think of shit period
what i do that sorta help me get to sleep, is ill start like a video in my head, ill think of say, a park and a dog running in it, then he sees a ball and runs to it, then he grabs the ball and runs to a tree then takes a leak, my mind will eventually wander it off into a dream to the point where i dont have to think of the dog doing anything. sounds weird but its kind of like a jump start into a dream. the key is to keep it simple and childlike.

unless you have serious insomnia the best way to fall asleep is to force yourself to wake up. if you want to go to sleep at 12am...force yourself to be awake from 7am til 12am. it's tough, but you'll be so tired by 12am you'll just fall right asleep.
i was having problems sleeping (going to bed at 5am each right). today i kinda forced myself to stay up/no naps and i know tonight i' going to sleep soon..sleepy already

nothing beats melatonin. it's what your body secretes when it wants to go to sleep. and expect epic, Technicolor dreams. they're great.
(people use melatonin to cope with jet lag. it helps reset the body's sleep cycle to the new time zone. the stuff really works great.)
oh yes, and jerking off does help. and even if it doesn't, who cares? do it anyway!

oh, and here's a bit more advice. stuff I've figured out when I have trouble sleeping.
- be aware of your body. note if you're all tense. I've caught myself actually supporting my body up on an arm because my shoulder was so tensed up. so relax it. work your way mentally down your body, relaxing your muscles. focus on feeling them relax.
- be aware of your mind. if your thoughts are going all over the place, stop thinking about all that. think about nothing, or atleast focus your thoughts on a pleasant memory, like a vacation you had. don't think about the day-to-day stuff you might be stressing over.
- jerk off. this helps accomplish the first two.

Hey, thanks for some of the helpful advices. The clock-thing sounds very time-consuming and arduous (timing for a whole week?), but I'll give it a try to determine my bod's clock.
I wonder if taking diphenhydramine each night for a few weeks would cause some kind of serious problems.
