INSOMNIA: any advice?
Insomnia is the worst. Unfortunately, I've simply learned to live on about 4 hours of sleep per night. It's probably not healthy, and certainly affects my work habits, but nothing has worked to cure this affliction. This has been going on since high school.
My personal (non-medical, non-psychological) opinion is that stress has a lot to do with inciting insomnia. So, if you can find a way to relieve your stress, it may help. The only time I sleep well is if I'm on vacation, or simply "away" from everything (work, apartment troubles, etc.). I've tried pretty much everything, from Tylenol PM to warm baths before bed, but the only thing that really works is the sound of the ocean coupled with knowing the following day means nothing more than laying out in the sun. Weird, I know, but that's about the only time I can get to bed early, and up at a decent time. Too bad most of us (myself inclueded) actually go on vacation once a year. . .

Bottom line: people who can't sleep either a) have a serious mental problem or b) are not active enough....
how bout gettin your ass up off the computer chair and hitting the gym hard when you wake up in the morning.

Hey, just thought of one more *natural* option that might help... eat more TURKEY! Certain foods like turkey contain a chemical called tryptophan, a natural sleep-inducing agent. Maybe a glass of milk and a small turkey sandwich, say a couple of hours or so before bed. Give it a try.

It helps
