Nice! I'm building a new computer in the spring for my new house... I was hoping these would come out soon.

BAH bad news is though a little time after this, BTX successor to ATX CASE DESIGN is coming, SOCKET 778 is replacing socket 478 , DDR-2 is replacing DDR , AGP & PCI IS Gone! will be replaced and merged with PCI EXPRESS. Only thing I will salvage is my USB Keyboard & mouse and my Serial ATA raptor Hard Drive oh well !

So should I build a computer now or wait for this new technology to come out?

This stuff all changes so often that I just don't really care anymore. I'll just build the best computer I can with the parts available when I build it. If you keep waiting for the next best thing, you'll never build a computer!

But yeah a lot of those changes you've mentioned are things I've been excited about.

Up to you, Best bet is to upgrade (cost effectively) , maybe buy a ABIT IC7 mobo with a p4. 2.8ghz HT and stick with it for now.. ride out the phasing stages of all the new technolgy. From about year from now all the new sockets and techs. will be like the standard then buy a entire new system then. (but beware by the time all this is standard It will be Time for 64bit! which AMD announced as the hottest and must have thing with the AMD 64FX. Intel will release there Teja CPU ( 64 bit? Pentium 5?) which will probably need a new motherboard. but at least videocards, cases, and memory wont be evolving for a while.

JasonX82 is correct - Lots of technology changes coming next year.... plus I hear that Prescott is not exactly pin-compatible with the previous Pentium 4 motherboards.... so for me - I'll live without Prescott for most of next year.... BUT, I am eying a Dothan Centrino Laptop in the interum

I believe it will fit in the Socket 478 but voltage is the problem some of the high end motherboards right now support Prescott like what I have ABIT IC7-G MAX 3 =)
