After Effects, meet the Green Screen.
Green Screen, meet After Effects.

OK, I'll spoil it for you. Paint the mirror green and key it out in After Effects with the original layer acting as a matte. Same thing with the ball, brick, and coat.

Your TV weatherman does that nightly

But that WOULD be cool if was real.

I saw a write up on this technology a few years ago. I dont see any reason for it to be fake. Although it would be easy to do green screen.

I also read about this, the way that it supposedly works is that there are hundreds of tiny cameras on the back of his coat with projectors on the front which project the image of what is behind him on his front. Thus he looks invisible. Apparently they still require a special lense to be used on the camera for it to work, that is why it looks green, but I do not think this is a hoax.

This uses OLED, Organic Light Emitting Device. technology. They are working on flexible screens that are paper thin. There are alot of companies working on this, but the Military and DARPA are the ones funding the majority of the research. Soon you will be able to buy paperthin screens for your wall, so when the TV is off, all you see is the wall. Do a search on OLED, there is some good stuff out there.

Now if only we can get the enemy to look through these "special cameras"

I am not an expert on Organic Light Emitting Devices, but I though a limitation was that the materail was not bipolar. In other words, the screen side is the screen side and the camera side is the camera side. If that's true, I'm not sure how you could apply the material to a round object (ball) and have it work in a 360 spin.

Although, I could make that effect in After Effects in about 10 minutes.

Cheers -

Green is the only color they have perfected for large applications right now. Sony and other companies are working on the full color version. The OLED will be flexible and transparent. They want to intergrate it with car windshields, so that you can see everything you need in the windshield itself. As for the round object, I don't think they have addressed anything like that yet.
