i thought apple signed contract with at&t for 5 years? and its only been like 3 years isnt it?

^+1. i HATE all htc products. specially when they are bonded with microsoft mobile operating system. it's guaranteed that it will freeze on you. google phone is decent but nothing beats iphone 3gs. i also love 32gb hd.

Personally I cannot get an Iphone. I have that stupid 22% verizon business discount which makes it tough to go anywhere else.

I like the Iphone but I hate how you cannot multitask with it. I also don't like how it doesn't have a microSD slot. The AT&T network also sucks. It also seems that apple tries to nickle and dime you to death and your multimedia options are limited. Last but not least the audio processor in all ipods sucks coupled with weak amplifiers which leave people who want to invest in decent headphones out in the cold, but this is probably true for all phones.

Verizon is changing their tune and seems to be heading in the right direction. Hopefully they get that HTC HD2 phone as those you tube videos of that phone are amazing. That phone combined with andriod is a huge step past an iphone. This time next year the market could look totally different with apple playing catchup.

It supposedly ends next year, 2010.

The future of mobile devices will be in data usage (as opposed to voice), which is why Verizon is heavily investing in LTE. Think mobile broadband system with multimedia services. FWIW, I think Verizon was Apple's first choice.

I would like to add that if Sprint had the iphone, I'd probably have it but at&t coverage sucks around here and IMO the plans available for the iphone should come with a jar of lube too.

I have Sprint and and am using the Palm Pre and am pretty satisfied with it. It's not perfect by any means but is coming along pretty good.

I like apple products...I have a 30gig ipod but it just seems like when it comes to certain things, apple can be such "nazis" it sometimes gets on my nerves.

But the iphone IS a pretty nice device.

android >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> iphone OS.. potentially. It's just a matter of time before quality hardware is released running android.. and that time is weeks away.

Competition is good. I figure just as Android hits its stride the NEXT iPhone will continue to give it a run for the money.

It's just a rumor at this stage, but Apple's track record in other countries has been to open it up.

I'm pretty sure the US is just about the last country to only have it on 1 provider, Canada, UK, Australia all have 2-4 providers and you can just buy outright from the Apple store.

google android operating system is pretty good. way better than windows mobile.

i purchased google phone the day it came out and within first month i had to switch it out like three times. i can't remember exactly why but i know for sure it kept breaking and i couldn't use it anymore. so i went back to iphone.

one main reason i like about iphone is the hard drive. i cannot possible save all the porns that i have in google phone.

i want 4g so 3g will be cheaper =) 3g is good enough speed for me on a cell phone. i dont run p2p on my cell phone just do little things like check email.

and android >>>>>>>>>>> iphone i agree.

adobe is making flash player for ALL phones BUT the iphone so we can watch $$$$$$ direct at our work and iphoners can only play with the 75,000 fart apps. plus all UI is better than apple UI because well... apple has no UI just a bunch of icons layed out all over the screen. HTC > Apple and when snapdragon processors like that found on the Xperia X3 and other upcoming phones come out 1Q next year the iphone and AT&T will need to retool itself because it will be in a battle vs all carriers and all manufacturers.
