Basically, its there to stop "casual piracy" Whats that? Well remember how easy the original napster was? That was casual pricay, makeing it harder will hopefully deter people who won't pirate if its too hard, or they don't understand.

IIRC, all new IPODs have write protection built into the firmware which means no, ninethree, you cant go to jain... unless you try.

Jeff
Thats why I get everything off of Usenet, that and the 2 mins it takes to download an albumn.

I got an episode of a TV show in DVD quality 1.2 gigs and the sucker took 45 mins to download. That is worth it right there.

I fear not the hands of the RIAA, they don't police UseNet. They can't understand it.

I do however like iTunes because I go through there to find out how many songs are on an album and then go find a usenet message with all the songs.

Not everybody needs 20 or more gigs of music at once and why should they spend the money on it. Granted Apple isn't exactly the cheapest stuff out there but I think they make great products. I wonder if this will shift sales for the shuffle or how they are marketing the product. 4 gig's is perfect for using on a run without the bulk of the normal IPOD and it looks even smaller than the IPOD mini which is what I'm sure they will phase out.

I was being sarcastic.

Although thinking it through 4 gigs would require you delete / move around stuff from time to time.

This thing is the new hotness!

I bought a Creative Zen Micro at my lunch break yesterday and came back with it only to see the announcement about the Nano 10 minutes later.

Needless to say I returned the Zen promptly and have ordered the nano.

I hate waiting for UPS!
