people are just pure ignorant and stupid if they think something the size and dimensions of an ipod nano is durable. one needs to handle a nano as delicately as one does a pair of silk stockings (as opposed to a pair of gym socks.) sorry, i can't think of a better analogy.

I don't think anyone has any place crying that their iPod got scratched. I have heard that the screens on nanos are cracking though, and its probably a design flaw.

I can't really agree with this. I put mine (black) in a soft microfiber sunglasses case and it got scrached (very faint, but on black its noticable). I have some other scratches but they are from more active handling (pockets of pants and such) and I can't really complain about those.

I know you can get these types of scratches out with plastic polish but this is easier to scratch than all other iPods.

I have heard one story where the guy wanted to return it because of the scratches and the Apple rep said "you should have put it in a case." Seriously? They don't even have cases for it yet. I think they launched too soon in that regard and think that later models will be made using a harder plastic.

Seems too easy to scratch.

Sunglasses get scratches, watches get scratches, jewelry gets scratches. So do iPods.

Also, I found a link where this guy tests what it takes to destroy a nano iPod: http://arstechnica.com/reviews/hardware/nano.ars/3

(he got lots of scratches too)
