Off-topic Talk Where overpaid, underworked S2000 owners waste the worst part of their days before the drive home. This forum is for general chit chat and discussions not covered by the other off-topic forums.

It's "than", not "then" (pedantry)

What's sad is that this isn't just an online phenomenon. Have you read a newspaper recently? I see as much of this type of grammar in the newspaper as I do online. It's embarrassing really. Sometimes it's hard to interpret a sentence because they've chosen the wrong form of a word. And society seems to accept it. I remember a couple of years ago the Oakland CA school disctrict tried to start teaching "ebonics" which is a totally slang form of the english language. They thought it would make it easier to teach inner city youth. Yeah that's the solution. Let's not make them learn proper english, we'll just start using improper english. Fortunately someone came to their senses in that case. Oops, I've gone off on a tangent here haven't I? Sorry....

Isn't English just a fun language.

One sad thing is I've heard that "ain't" is now considered a word!!!!

My friend was in AP Eng and Lit and spells "tomorrow" as "tomarrow."

Another friend says he was in Ap Eng and spells "sponsor" as "sponcer."

I make soooo much fun of these guys. They were in higher English classes than I was and I have better grammar THAN they do.

They also have the trouble between "to" and "too", also as someone else said, "there", "they're", and "their."

Too funny.

You're absolutely right rice-curry. If it wasn't for that moron Webster (who btw I consider a closet nazi ) who decided to dumb down the language to cater for the lowest common demoninator then you yanks would still be able to spell correctly.
