Default I've been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome???

Anybody have any personal info on this?
I've read all the sites, including the CDC.

I have been going to doctors for months, trying to figure out why I feel so crappy all the time. By method of deduction it would seem that this is what I have.

One of those desease's that is defiantly there, but doesn't really show on any test.

My Doctor even suggested a support group, Kinda the fight club experience I guess

Just thought I would ask if anyone else here has ever had it, and was there anything that helped?

Do you have any issues to do with sleep?
Sleep deprivation, sleep apnea, narcolepsy? If so, a sleep study might be beneficial for you and possible solutions may be found.

Well I will admit that sleeping is a problem, regardless of the amount of sleep I get, I feel tired when I wake. I only went to the doctor because at times I would wake up go to brush my teeth and fall asleep on the way there. I was afraid I would hurt myself. Once I'm up though, I don't pass out, but feel tired all day.

I'll look into sleep studies, but is it common to have these problems lasting months?

You feel this way because your S2000 is parked .

No seriously, a few years back I always felt tired at work around 2 - 3 pm. I started taking a complex vitamin B tablet and it REALLY helped.

Try that, it not very expensive and won't hurt you. You can get it at GNC, made by Quest and it's called Super One a days.

How many hours on average do you sleep? Do you consume alchohol before going to sleep too?

You may be right about the car
the blood tests showed that all the vitamans and minerals I shoul dhave are there at proper levels.

I sleep an avg, 9 hours a night. I've also tried anywhere from 6 to 12 hours on a weekly cycle, but it make no real difference. I also don't drink before going to sleep, and very rarely drink thru the week, maybe on a saturday.

Hmmm, I wonder if you have some form of anxiety or depression. Best to work this out with your doctor.

I think it's a fancy way of saying you're depressed. Depression will make you feel that way, always tired, lazy, totally disinterested. Anti-depressents are the cure (not really but it helps). They and them out like candy here.

Also get info from your local Sleep Apnea Society.
Sleep related problems can last years and can shorten your life. Your doctor should be able to refer you to a sleep clinic that is covered by medicare (private clinics cost big bucks). Your U of T affiliated hospital should have one but the waiting list may be long. Sleep problems are a new age affliction that few people look further into. I've gone through the sleep study so I can speak with some knowledge. The initial (and possibly only) study can be done in one of two ways. 1 is where you book yourself into the clinic and spend the night while being hooked up to all sorts of monitors as well as being video taped. The other is where you can take home a portable device that measures some basic information such as blood oxygen levels (no, it isn't invasive so it doesn't hurt), pulse rate, breathing rate, snoring (how often & how loud), mouth or nose breather, how many minutes or hours you actually sleep, how often you wake up, how much you toss & turn - all these things are important. If you go years with oxygen deprivation while sleeping (due to apnea or reduced air intake for whatever reason), many other ailments can arise and become chronic. These, of course, can lead to a shortened lifespan and definately a reduced quality of life. Solutions can range from surgery (nasal septum remodelling, tissue removal in the throat area), mechanical devices that help you breath more efficiently when sleeping to re-training of your sleep habits. Only a sleep test will tell if you fall into any of these catagories.
ps. I used to sleep up to 10 hours a day and still was tired all the time. Although I didn't have severe apnea, I still benefited from laser sugery. It didn't resolve my snoring issues but it did make it such that I get more oxygen when I sleep. I don't have to sleep nearly as much now and although I do enjoy a short afternoon nap, I can go non-stop for 15-18 hours if I had to without a nap and without getting "zapped" like I used to.
