Perhaps that just speaks to the fact that you're an elitist with no real discerning palate?

You would think that paying $400 for earbuds is stupid if you took them apart and saw the components that went into their creation.
In no way should they be anywhere near $400. I can guarantee an over 100% profit margin for the company.
A friend bought a pair of these a year or so ago. He nearly got hit by everyone around him when he told everyone the price he paid. A year later and I never see him wearing them.

the only thing that really matters when buying something is:
-do you have the means to support it
-is the value you derive in line with your means
if the BEST i can get for 300$ is only 1/2 as good as the 400$ headphones, and i've got 500$ in my pocket, then the 400$ headphones are a STEAL
[QUOTE] As for the Sony comment, you must not have any experience with high-end Sony products to have made such a snide comment. Sony products are pretty much respected worldwide, and to say any Sony product isn't worth $800 is simply ignorant. Go try a Sony XBR9 TV then!

Denon and many other quality brands are made in China. Perhaps that just speaks to the fact that you're an elitist with no real discerning palate?
Most people, most of the time, are satisfied enough with what comes from any mass-production facility, Chinese or otherwise.
My speakers are from Italy (Acoustat), my cables from the U.S. (JPS), my amp from the U.S. (Jolida), my phono amp from China (ASL), my turntable from China-via-UK(Music Hall), my CD player from Japan-via-?? (Sony)*, and my tuner is from the U.S. (Dynaco).
. . . and if anyone else cares, I've got a 4 pairs of headphones, but do most of my casual listening (at work) on my Grados.
Lastly, feel free to enlighten this music teacher, professional musician, former (broadcast) DJ, music collector, and former stereo salesperson what music is supposed to sound like. . .
. . . I'm all ears.
*Before anyone gets on their high horse, I've stated elswhere this is the weak link in my chain - it's getting replaced with either the Oppo player or the Music Hall DAC
So, am I to take it that that is just your long-winded form of a retraction and admission that China is capable of making products that aren't intended for most people, most of the time? A bit heavy on the douche-baggery, but otherwise very good. Glad we agree, Mr. Music Man.

I was quoting that other convoluted statement from Gatsbee, which basically vacillated between ". . . to(o) bad they're made in china," what I read to be a negative, to what could be best be read as "I don't know about the quality." Which, could be read as a negative as well. . . ESPECIALLY FOR consumer goods.
So, I've retracted nothing. If you're going to fault me for something, then it's for trying to read too much into a badly written statement. I edited once I realized to what end your delicate sensitivities were addled.
I've never believed Chinese products were inferior, rather, just priced to the market. The only blow-hardiness I will attach to that statement, is that if you believe anything other than that, you're smoking a big fat bag of crack.
If you need someone to lambast you for defending Chinese products so you can stroke your internutz, by all means talk to GPMike, errr SmurfBlueS2. He's way more qualified than I.

(Oh, I see what you did there...
)
My point was simply that Sony makes very good products in general, and has had many ground-breaking first developments, but there are many haters that simply hate the brand because of their prices. Sony has had contributed more first developments than any other electronics company out there. Hey, when the first OLED comes out, Sony haters will bash it too.
Btw, FWIW, I'm enjoying my $500 earphones which I paid $50 for (brand new after rebate).
And you guys can bash Sony all you want, but I'm also enjoying my XBR tv, Vaio laptop, Sony headphones, PS3, Blu-Ray player, and countless of other excellent Sony products. In the near future, Sony OLED tv will be in my collection too. Hate the company all you want, but there are millions (perhaps billions) of people worldwide who use and love Sony products. And the fact is, Sony is the most respected electronics company by billions of people worldwide - not Samsung, Philips, LG, etc.
P.S. To the epeen comment, my epeen has been extended another foot because I paid $50 for them; use them a year or 2, then will still be able to sell them for 3-4 times the price I paid. Help me, s2ki, my epeen is too long!!!

Not surprising coming from the OP but,

Even a mental retard could name at least 1 aspect the LFA beats them in.
You're just mad because I called out your stupid comment.
