You would think that paying $400 for earbuds is stupid if you took them apart and saw the components that went into their creation.

In no way should they be anywhere near $400. I can guarantee an over 100% profit margin for the company.

A friend bought a pair of these a year or so ago. He nearly got hit by everyone around him when he told everyone the price he paid. A year later and I never see him wearing them.

wish these headphones could of been made in japan or atleast here.. to bad their a made in china product. dont know if that speaks to the quality of the headphones or the possibility that not all products from China are bad

The tripleFi's are high end for consumers, the custom molded stuff is reserved exclusively for professionals and crazy audiophiles. Not many people have $1000 in their budget to spend every year or two, which is required with customs since your ears never stop growing.

Personally, I like the silicone, for me they seal a lot better. If you can get a proper seal with the foams... well lucky you, I wish I could they are more comfortable.

Denon and many other quality brands are made in China. Perhaps that just speaks to the fact that you're an elitist with no real discerning palate?
