Default Just came back from Europe

For the first time in my life I realized how scary being a passenger can be at 240km/h down the Autobahn. My company's European division's Managing Director picked me up from Frankfurt, and we drove to Coburg on the autobahn. He drives an Audi A6 Wagon TDi Quattro, and that thing FLIES. Even at 240km/h, the car felt solid and smooth. I was only scared because a bunch of Dutch trailers were on the slow lane going about 100km/h.

How come we don't have the turbo diesels that they have in Europe? Emissions on these new TDi seems very low, and the power of that engine is incredible.

Emissions is the reason we don't have the diesels over here.

Yes, but from what I understand EU emission standards are just as stringent (maybe not as stringent as CA) as ours. Then again, I see big diesel trucks (late model Ford or GM) that just suck shit when it comes to emissions. Why?

the reason they have more diesel cars is because petrol is bloody expensive unlike it is in the USA.
i spent some time in Europe not so long ago and i drove around in the 1.9tdi skoda octavia (which audi owns 60% of), this is the same as an audi a4.
anyway the car was sluggish as hell around prague, however once it got onto the motorways it flew. cruising at 100+mph was no problem however overtaking became scary as it took a while for it to kick in, the engine made a lot of noise but there was no action.
i wished i had taken my rs4 along those motorways though, damn i would of ripped up those roads.
