Default Just got a speeding ticket last night

I was coming home from San Pedro last night on the 110S and this CHP Crusier crept up behind me. I was going the flow of traffic which was like 75-80, that was when he threw on his lights. By then i looked down at my speedo and it read 78.

When I pulled over, he said he was only citing me for 80 but i was going faster so whatever.

So the problem is, I got a speeding ticket for 57 in a 35 last May and it hasnt been 12 months yet. I cleared that citation with traffic school so no point on my licences but will that ticket still be on my record? How hefty will the fine be?

Worst of all, I have to appear in court at 8:30 in the morning, in San Pedro.... I live in Beverly Hills.

Down here in Texas, there are attorneys, for a small fee, that can try to get your tickets dismissed. Here is costs $100-200 depending on the county.

You should check your phone book.

... Just say something came up and you can't make it. If you have to, just reschedule again and again, then go and most likely he won't be there.

the thing with my court date is that the cop only shows up if i choose to contest it. That means i have to show up initially and then choose to either pay the fine or contest it. If i do contest it, then i'll have to reschedule.

if you pay the fine, you'll get the points and your insurance will increase. go ahead contest it. if you can't make it in person, i think cali allows you to contest it through the mail.

Ouch. I haven't had a ticket in a few years, definitely a PITA.
