We have 130 already and are not going to scrap them. The gov canceled the order for an additional 170 and retains the ability to order more in the future.
The F18 is big. Even bigger than the new Camaro!
F18s have buzzed Detroit before. With a long zoom, proper timing, and the right spot, there's no reason this shot couldn't be legit.

The f22 is awesome, but buying any more of them is a severe misallocation of defense spending. 140 million for a plane with capabilities which will, in all likelihood, never be necessary. Maybe in peacetime (damn Chinese!), but not with 2 wars going on - and especially when more f22s won't aid in attaining the objectives of those two wars.

Wrong. We're going to tangle with the Chinese sometime down the road and we need to maintain air superiority. Iraq and Afghanistan aren't indicative of the high tech threats we will need to be able to confront. Balls to the wall with the F35 Joint Strike Fighter may not cut it.
Please enlighten me... What do the Chinese have that would match or even threaten US air supremacy?
I've always heard that The US, Israel, GB have the best airforce units.

I don't know much about military vehicles, aircrafts, and vessels...

Based on that It looks like they pose more threat to Taiwan and East Asia than anywhere else really. At least for the time being.

Stuck in the cold war are we?
Ain't gonna happen.
"Despite decades of work, the only original combat aircraft to be designed and produced in China are the J-8 and JH-7, both of which took so long to develop that by the time they entered service, they were already obsolete by Western standards. The newer J-10, which has been in development for twenty years, probably won't enter service for another five years."
What in the world are we going to fight them for? Taiwan? Cross straight relations are much warmer and trending upwards. Sparks will always fly given the Chinese government's politicization of nationalism, but neither they, Taiwan, nor the USA will ever light the match. Even historically China has not expanded territorially unlike other ascendant great powers. Nor is invasion fitting with their FP objectives. China has aggressively pursued a soft power approach in SE asia in order to strengthen its position as the power player within the existing international political economy. Sure sure, China is big, often bewildering, and its rise is incredibly unique. But they aren't stupid.
