right....then in five years, we start all over again.
The Northern Alliance is exactly that. An alliance. It comprises numerous warlords, thugs etc who quite frankly, will be little better than the Taliban in time.
Remember a warlord named Aideed in another far-off land? Nice guy, wasn't he and guess who trained his son in the military.....

bad that need to be killed. Tomorrow, there will be more bad
guys that need to be delt with.
Because tomorrow we may face problems, is not a reason to avoid dealing
with today's problems. In the face of what happed the cost of not acting
far exceeds the cost of acting, even if all the future consequences can't be know
If you read more into my comments you will see what I am trying to say.
They all need to be killed but many of them will get away to fight another day.
This concerns me.
We have been getting reports of plane loads of hard core Taliban soldiers being shipped out of the north in transport aircraft, probably by Pakistan.
That concerns me also.

I can see Andy's point of view. Some Taliban I would suspect, will also 'disappear' into the local community. With regard to the future, it's a fact of life that that part of the world has tended to replace one despot with another. The trend is likely to continue without some form of democratic process in place. Afghanistan has historically survived invasion from many sources including Russia, and I'm sure that OBL felt it was a safe refuge from which to launch his assault upon The West.
Whatever happens in the future and whatever new power mad headcase may take control, I think that the sheer unyielding shit storm which has been unleashed by The West will at least put paid to the notion that this part of the world is invunerable to retribution!

You can be sure that even the moths get clearance before taking to Afghani airspace. No taliban are flying to Pakistan
