Jay Z is tight but it has always been Nas for me. BTW KAnye does make good music and at least his raps have content other than
Aye Bay Bay..Aye Bay Bay
or
Soulja Boy in this ho blah blah blah
or
Party like a rock star Party like a rockstar
Come man that ain't music or hiphop.

Kanyes newest hit does not even make sense, and the other night I saw him on MTV singing the Soula Boy song w/ however that is that sings that song.
Nas is cool, but still not that great anymore. IMO I saw him live at Rock the bells and I was not impressed.
All of these artist lose their hunger after they blow and just start rapping about money.
Slug and Murs FTW
well.. i'm not professing to be a hip hop know it all or anything, but imo kanye is talented. lupe is amazing. nas, jay-z are --greats--.
don't forget to take into consideration the differing styles of hip hop.. it's a constantly evolving art, and although i prefer the mid-90's to early 2000 era of hip hop more than what it is now, it's just part of the progression of artistic movement.
regarding the comment about lupe and nas' live shows.. unfortunately i haven't been to either of their shows (i wish), but my roommate is a big hip hop head and he's said they both aren't very good live performers. and although i feel being able to put on a good show is a key part of the entertainment industry, it's not everything. there are studio artists and performing artists.
i dunno.. all i really wanted to say here was that despite some of you saying that kanye, jay-z, whatever, are not "real" hip hop, i like their music, and why all the hate?
common, anybody?

The thread got derailed badly. It went from talking about how Kanye is a racist to who good rappers are these days.
On a side note...I like Jay-Z. Is he the greatest? I don't think so. But then again I really don't think anybody alive is the greatest.
I dig Soulja Boy. His "Crank dat" line of songs are fun to listen to, and fun to dance to if you know how to do them (look up "Crank dat Lion King" on youtube).
::waits for someone to bring up eminem::
