Default Kid killed at my school

Here's the story

Seriously the pedestrian traffic here at school is terrible. People cross the street with a "I don't give a fawk" attitude. I'm not saying they deserve to get mowed down, but accidents WILL happen.

If it's like the school zones I go thru once you reach Jr. High age it's as if they dare you to hit them.

It has cross walks/stop lights. But people here just cross the street whenever/where ever. I think in this situation he got off the campus bus and instead of waiting on the sidewalk for it to drive off, he crossed in front of the bus and a car trying to pass the bus never even saw him.

YES!

Here was my response on the school newspaper forum:

[QUOTE]I have to agree 100% with "Brady Hargrove." Though his words at this time may seem/be insensitive, he is correct all the way. I'm from Socal, and when I came to IU a few years ago one of my first concerns about driving here was the

By law aren't you supposed to stop at least 100 ft from a bus letting out kids?

Yea to my knowledge that only applies to yellow buses. These are more like campus shuttles for "Adult" college students

There are no jaywalking laws in my town. People cross in the middle of the street all the time. I'm no exception.

However, I always always look and wait for cars. Like mentioned already...cars always win in the battle of pedestrian vs machine. It might take an extra 10 seconds to wait for a car to pass. It's worth the wait regardless of right-of-way or not.
