This seems like a low-income, troubled area and it bothers me that these people just see the cops as "pigs" that are just out to give them trouble. Cops are given guns to defend themselves in life or death situations. If I was ever hit with a bat in the head, and fortunate enough to NOT be unconscious, I would definitely do anything to defend myself.

F*%$in kids nowadays. The only reason we have this problem much more these days is because parents are total pussies. Discipline your kids and this sh*t wont happen! This kind of thing occurs when kids have no fear of consequences, an occasion a$$ whoopin growin up willl cure that.
