The King???
Since this is the 24th anniversary of Elvis' death, here is the question of the day. Was Elvis the king of rock n roll???
My feelings are that Chuck Berry was because he wrote and performed his songs and played a mean guitar for the times. I don't know of anything Elvis wrote and sang. He did have a great voice and stage presence though

You'll never get a unanimous decision on this, but I don't even think of Elvis as a real rocker. Can't call him the King of Pop since Michael Jackson already annoited himself w/ that title!
How about Led Zeppelin or the Rolling Stones? Mabe the Beatles (though they weren't really rockin' either).

Elvis not The King ?!?! I never heard such heresy in my life! Go rent a tape of Elvis' 1968 "Comeback Special", the one where he's in that tight black leather then tell me he's not The King ! What's this world coming to? Next thing you know people will be saying that Aretha Franklin isn't the Queen of Soul.
Not to dis Chuck because he's awesome, but can you go to Vegas and get married in the Chuck Berry Chapel?
I rest my case.

Like any other king, after death they resign from their throne. Also if Elvis was still alive and just not making music he would once again be resigned from his kingship.
Trent Reznor is King today!
