Koreans who have lived or been in S. Korea
I've been having serious sinus and nasal breathing problems throughout my life. For the most part, I'm a mouth breather since my nasal airway becomes clogged often. When I went in to see the orthodontist a couple of months ago, he said I would be a strong candidate for maxillofacial surgery. Basically, maxillofacial surgery aligns the upper and bottom jaws and apparently does wonders for sinus and breathing problems for people with jaw deformity. He said my severe underbite attests to this need. I made an appointment with a maxillofacial surgeon, took models and x-rays and submitted them to my health insurance. She too, said I was a good candidate for jaw alignment. I received a letter from my insurance today in the mail - a notice of adverse decision a.k.a. I'm denied coverage. The letter stated and even admitted that I had "major functional skeletal deformity" however, they couldn't deem it as life threatening and reached a conclusion that my condition does not seriously lower the quality of life. Whatever lol. The surgery, at least in the US and around this area, costs around $30k so you can imagine my reservations against having the surgery performed here, don't have the funds.
My parents and relatives who live here have been telling me that surgeries like this are commonplace in South Korea. Apparently, I discovered many people in Korea enjoy spending a fortune not for functional, but for aesthetic reasons as well. The surgery costs significantly less and the doctors are more familiar with Asian physiology and do it on a more frequent basis.
Does anyone know of excellent, reputable places where they perform maxillofacial surgery in Korea? In Korean, I believe jaw surgery is called "tuk byo soo sul." I don't want my jaws to end up worse than when I start or destroyed from a hack job (bad bite, worsened breathing, etc). My Korean is limited but from how they presented themselves on the web, these seem to be somewhat respectable, in terms of presentation and surgeon credentials.

Can someone who can read Korean fluently briefly peruse the sites and tell me what they think? Which is better? Or if anyone who has heard of good things from other places, I would appreciate if you could share feedback. Thanks in advance.

Have you considered visiting the Oral Surgery Department of your local dental school. They are much cheaper than private Oral Surgeons and everything is done under the supervision of clinical instructors many of them being authors and experts in the feild. If you are in new york I'd highly recommend Columbia University. Sometimes when a university submits an insurance claim/pre-authorization the insurance company approves it. Hope everything works out for you.
