I think he should have been arrested but then I read...

The Jacksonville office of the Florida Highway Patrol and the Georgia State Patrol in Atlanta said it’s also their policy not to arrest speeders – even when they’re 83 mph over the limit.

“Here, anything over 30 mph gets a mandatory court date,” a FHP spokesman said. “The jails are so full they don’t want us arresting them.”

As long as that's standard procedure not to arrest speeders in that area/state, and not preferrential treatment. You would think of anyone he would know the dangers of high speed crashes very well, but let's be frank... if you just bought a LFA would you not romp on it somewhere? And looking at that road, it looks pretty backroadsy to me, I don't see any indication of a house in sight. If you're going to do it, better off the freeway and away from people. Still stupid, but could have been a lot worse. And let's be frank, do you really expect someone who's trained to essentially cruise at 180mph+ for extended periods of time follows the speed limit to a T. I seriously doubt it.

People make stupid mistakes, life goes on, tomorrow's still Saturday.

I totally agree about buying a fast car and not flooring it but, 128 in a 45 during the day time? That's just foolish. It's not about his driving skills, it's about other peoples. The general population here doesn't have the driving experience to make quick decisions. Someone could have easily pulled out in front of him on that little backroad. If he wants to test drive it wait until night time or take it to the track. He's a professional for God sakes.

Headlights are nowhere near as good as daylight, esp when travelling at a high speed

Well of course not. You all aren't understanding what I'm getting at. On backroads like those down here there's virtually no traffic 12am or later. The best time to test a car out. With great headlamps like the LFA has, a professional driver shouldn't have to worry about lack of vision. Especially if he already knows the road, which I suspect he did. Cuz.

I've never seen a deer with headlights. And I've never seen a car with headlights that are sufficient brightness to allow a driver (of any skill level) to see a deer in time to avoid when they are traveling at triple-digit speeds.

I doubt that a pro driver would feel a need to go sneaking around testing his car on a late night speed run. He was probably just doing his daily business and got caught up in the moment - expensive supercar, empty road...most of us would.
