What's worst is that crap like this really happens, all the time...

Two years ago, the thermostat stuck shut on my Accord and blew the upper radiator hose, stranding me in the Everglades. I had the car towed in, telling them to do only what was necessary to make the car operational (about $40 in parts plus labor and antifreeze) and they tried to soak me for $400! I asked him to itemize, and it didn't even add up to $400!! I started picking his estimate apart to what I had asked for (only what I absolutely needed) and got it down to $180. Still a total ripoff, still more than 30% more than I should have paid, but that JERK was initially trying to take me for a ride for more than 100% over what I really needed done just because I was a chick and I was stranded! I feel sooo sorry for people who can't see this kind of robbery for what it is or don't have someone to run stuff like this by to see if it is above board or not.

For those who would like to avoid this dealership like the plague, it was BRAMAN HONDA in Miami.
