I suggest you grab an 802.11b wireless card based on the Lucent chipset and grab a program called netstumbler. All you have to do them is drive around neighborhoods and an office complex or two and you'll be surfing in no time.
, that's why I have a VPN box between the access point and the network 
. I'm sure there is someone out there that can find a way to hack into it but for most crackers out there Layer 3 security is good enough
