I'm debating if lasik is worth it, dont want the dry eyes.
WTF! Your contacts on get you to -6 and -5? then what? do you were glasses too?

-5 is damn near blind..... -12.5 must be legally blind if I was -8 and had to fumble around to find my glasses....

are you sure those are the correct readings?

Damn thats crazy, I thought I had pretty bad vision. I'm -5.75 and -4.5

Would you mind sharing what price you paid? I'm thinking about this in the near future and just not sure how much is normal in terms of price. Or PM it to me at least?

I'm getting sick of contacts.

Just want to make sure my eyes are fully matured. I'm 24 so I don't my vision to get worse on me.

over -5.0 diopeters bumped me into a higher price.....

I paid $38XX for both eyes with a 1 year touchup if needed....

I am sure there were cheaper places, but I paid extra for "custom" something which was supposed to follow my eye just in case I moved it around.... the cheaper stuff didn't do that..... better safe than sorry.

Yea i get that all the time, I have been wearing glasses since i was 2 years old. I didn't know what bad vision was because I could see what i thought i was supposed to see. Of course as i got older people would point out things and say" damn you can't see that" I always sat in the front row during all years of school, so the blackboard was not a problem.

i tease my new friends who did not grow up with me when they ride with me, that I drive by memory, so any detour sign will #### me up. I don't see potholes at night until the last minute, and those shredded tires from semi's come up really fast if i'm not paying attention.

But it's been this way my whole life so i have adjusted. The good news is it has never gotten worse, Glaucoma and myopia run in my family but I have no signs yet and i'm 37.

I didn't start wearing contacts until the 10th grade, ironicaly that's also when i got my first hot looking girlfriend. My glasses(that i only wear at night in the house) look like the bottom of mayonaise jars.

at a -6 you guys can probably see a lot but are striving for better vision, It is a bit of a strain but most people in that range don't even wear their glasses or contacts all the time. Me on the other hand, i have to wear something or I can't function.

So the big question is.....what am i doing driving an S.......hey, you got to get around somehow.

I still don't understand how one place is $600 per eye and another is $1900 per eye. I mean what is so special about one machine vs. another. I need to do more research. I am wondering if they keep "improving" the technology for the sake of making more money. Kinda like DVD players, or medications and drug companies.

a) actually, at -6, you are striving for ANY vision. sorry man, but you can't see shit @ -6.

b) that's bullshit - who are these people? you can't function @ -6 and no corrective eyewear.

there is no way anyone could see to function at anything worse than about 20/100 I would think..... squinting only helps so much.... unless you are George Costanza...

The more expensive places have better equipment and will make little incisions in your cornea, time after time. You will get follow up visits to make the incisions larger to get the best possible results untill you see the best.

The cheaper places make one big incision.....thats it
