a) actually, at -6, you are striving for ANY vision. sorry man, but you can't see shit @ -6.

b) that's bullshit - who are these people? you can't function @ -6 and no corrective eyewear.
Don't know what to tell you. I have astigmatisim and maybe that has something to do with it.

if I slide my chair back in my little cubicle from my monitor about 2 1/2-3 feet, I can only read the S2K at the left of this page, I can figure out that international is below it, but it takes some time and a little squinting(and that could be because I know what it is).

at a -6 you guys can probably see a lot but are striving for better vision, It is a bit of a strain but most people in that range don't even wear their glasses or contacts all the time.
At -6, I was nearly BLIND!

It'll be 7 years next Sunday when I went in to get my eyes fixed.

Still 20/20 and still consider it the best 'mod' ever.

I was at -10.5 in both eyes. My eye tests consisted of me telling the doc if the E was facing up, down, left or right.
I opted for the Laser PRK and have been corrected to slightly better than 20/20 at 20/10 (or is it 10/20?). I chose the Laser PRK because at that time the military accepted this and not LASIK. They believed your eye could hold better pressure with the PRK. I believe the PRK removes your retna and you grow a new one as opposed to the LASIK where they just peel it back. After the retna is out of the way, though, I believe both procedures are the same. The recovery time is much greater since your open eye wound is not covered and protected by your retna, it was about 2 weeks before I could even open my eyes. It has been 4 years now. The dry eyes cleared up after a few months. I couldn't see a better way for anyone to spend there money!

Has anyone heard of undergoing LASIK again after a few years? If vision deteriorates after a few years, can one undergo the procedure again? I wonder if there'll be greater problems/risks.

It's called a 'touch-up' and though I've never required one, my exgf had.

Not sure of the risks, but if youre curious, I'd check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lasik

I've had it done 3 times. My vision is still worse than when I began.

I have had the correction done with a blade and without the blade. W/O is much better.

The problem is astigmatism. The Lasik adds astigmatism. The amount depends upon the machine calibration (apparently).

The lens replacement doesn't and is superior for that reason.

man.... you must have the worst luck on everything in life......

You get shitty towing, shitty lasic, etc..... I think you said something negative in the "stick built vs modular house" thread.... life must suck....... Between you and "the oldman" (or something like that), you two sound like life has really beaten the hell out of you.....

You should drink some Mt. Dew... it will make all of your dreams come true.

You probably could but I think that would completely mess you up....

I mean think about it. Youd have to get glasses with one lens prescribed and the other clear. You would have to wear one contact. Thus you'd probably dry out one eye while having normal dry eyes in the other. When you took the contact out, you would be dizzy as hell because you could see out of one eye and blind in the other...

Try this. Walk around your house with one contact in your eye and the other without.

I'm not sure a place would even do this in the first place. But just save your money a little longer and get them done at the same time.

Kind of like folks who buy body kits and then put them on unpainted.. hehe
