I don't think it's illegal to flash the lights, but most people don't understand why you do that.

As for honking the horn, I have airhorns, so they are loud enough to get the attention of people in front of me.

Well, in Europe, flash-to-pass is a requirement of getting your license.. you must learn how to do it and how to safely move over when flashed... this is an especially useful skill on autobahns and high speed international roads

It's too bad we can't make this a requirement here too.

Coming up on sombody at twice the speed in a little yellow Honda does not impress anybody in NJ. Although I had great success with that same move in a rusty 1980 Silverado. The victims got so freaked out sometimes, they would keep going right past the middle lane. One car pulled all the way to the shoulder once. ha ha!

It is legal to pass on the right in California. Thank God. No one here seems to understand "slower traffic to the right" and what "the fast lane" is.

I wish it were so here. Unfortunately most drivers here think it's pushy. They do tend to move over though when they see you coming up behind them. Must be the car.

legal / illegal? I thought they stopped enforcing all the driving laws in california. Nobody's following any traffic laws where I'm driving (in sacramento, davis, & bay area). Haven't been for at least 5 years now. Once in awile there's random enforcement; but isn't random enforcement of laws illegal too?! LOLOLOL!! Jezz, what a confusing country.
