You want heat? Visit Cuba... now THAT place is roasting on a daily basis... went there with my high school concert band, and thank god I have some Kiwi blood in me, cuz I was pretty much one of about 10 people of a group of nearly 100 that didn't get heatstroke 3 steps off the plane.

It was only 98-100 degrees F and 3000 people died? Are they counting the 2900 people who died of natural causes during this time or what?

Maybe that's why they wimped out of helping in Iraq, the temps there would have killed the entire army. Think they are going to bathe more often ,now ? Took my little boys and my wife to Disney a month ago. We went into the Haunted House and in that room that they close you in someone stunk to high hell I looked around and asked who it was, this lady next to me pointed them out. Turned out to be a French family. I think they understood me as they opened the doors.

gotta remember alot of places dont have A/C that are ususally cooler/only hot for short period...

I think the figures are far greater..if you read article they mention something about increse from 2000-3000 or somethin in same period...

heatstroke is no joke tho....we always donate fans etc to the groups that collect to help out elderly people who dont have ac/fans/way to get cool during summer...it IS a real danger

If you read any stories about this, their way of calculation is BS. They figured around 39 people usually died a day. The had reports of death in the 120 - 130's. They didn't check to see what happened, only assumed it was due to the heat. A boat could have sank, and they would have contributed it to a heat related death. I feel for human life being lost, but the way they got this number is stupid!
