Lip balm...???
Don't use anything. All these lip balms cause your lips to stop manufacturing natural oils and lubricants and cause the condition to worsen. I was once up to half a tube of blistex a day and my lips were bleeding. Finally stopped, let my body heal, and haven't used anything in fifteen years. Let nature take it's course. Stop buying all the Madison Avenue instant fix/create a need crap.
I have also heard not to overuse chapstick. I will use the blue chapstick with moisturizer (the chick from survivor recommended it) once and a while. I will never use blistex again.
I took some advice here and guess what I used?
NOTHING!
My lips are fine now and I'm wondering if there isn't some real truth in the notion that lip balms, over time, will make your lips stop creating the natural moisturizer. So I'm giving that a shot...
I may be a purist soon...will I be happy?
It's hard to imagine in cold Chicago winters not to use anything, but I don't have to worry about that anymore this winter....at least I hope I don't!
