Default livestrong bracelets - on eBay?

My son got one from his friend at school. My other son said he wants one, so I looked on the internet and they are backordered for 3-4 weeks.

There are over 4000 different "livestrong" auctions on eBay right now. The people selling them paid the $1 to a good cause, and are now making ~$5 profit on each one. Most are selling for about $5-$6.....(or they over charge the shipping to get the total up to the same amount)

I can definately understand doing this with regular stuff, but it just doesn't seem *right* to do it with something that was meant to raise $ and awareness for cancer research.

If these sellers hadn't hoarded all of them, there would not be a 3-4 week backlog.

It is a great way for someone to make some quick $, but that is not how I would like to make $. Would you tell your friends you did that? What would they say?

I just ordered 60 youth to hopefully give out at halloween (if they get to me on time).

Everyone remember those WWJD? bracelets that were all the rage a few years back? Unfortunately, these LS braclets are just another cause that started good and has now become a mainstream fad. I saw a high school kid wearing one at Wendy's last week so I asked him what it was for just to see if he knew, and of course he did not, just said it looked cool.

i have no problems with people selling / reselling things for a profit..... well yes i do..... i thought it was a scum move to buy a brand new S2000 in late 1999 and sell it for $39k.....

but this is for cancer research.......... i just think it is a dick move.

People are out to rip everyone so why not!

Agree and disagree, what should be done and what must be done are rarely the same... but in this case, definitely NOT COOL.
