This way I can be sure to get the look right, when my 360 finally arrives

its a freshwater turtle, not tortoise. only marine turtles have flipers. its a carnivor so guppies and blood worms are good food for him although guppies look much better in your tank. if you keep him indoor, a heater is not really necessary unless you want to keep him active. turtle is cold-blooded, so it will become less active when ambient temperature is cold. turtles are illegal under 4" or 6" (i forgot) because they commonly carry salmonella(gives people really bad diarrhea and may even cause life threatening infection). make sure you wash your hands well after handling the turtle and you should be executed by the electric chair if you allow small children to play with it.
Thanks for the advice, everyone. You guys saved a little turtle's life (or tortoise, terrapin, Gamera, etc.)
I'm thinking of getting little Speedy a companion. Is this a good idea? I thought about putting a fish in his tank with him, but I heard he may want to nibble on the fins and tail of the fish... so maybe another turtle is the way to go? Are turtles bad at sharing tank space? Remember, my turtle is a prissy 360 Modena driver.

hey Qube, I'm in Santa Monica. I have a 4 yr old and four baby less than a year old. they are illegal. My girlfriend gave them to me too. the way you can tell the sex is the patten on the bottom of the shell. the 4 yr old is HUGE, bigger than my hand and it ain't that small. the babies are tiny, the heat lamp is very important to the growth. get ready for dirty a$$ tanks cuz that's the one thing they are good at. take care of em and they will be your friends literally for life.
i have a red eared slider as well, about 11 years old. he was the size of a quarter when i got him and now he is huge... if you don't want that one to get huge, don't keep changing his tank size (they grow to fit the environment). feed him turtle food and the occasional turtle mineral thingie, and some green stuff from time to time. when they get older, their tanks are a biznatch to keep clean. they smell bad and get icky fast - you have to get a super duty filter. good luck! they like guppies too...
