Lost
"Friend or family?... Neither." I don't think Juliette... But, hey, who knows what will happen.
Some cool things:
- the name of the funeral home was an anagram for "flash forward"
- Jack had the circa Oct 2006 released Moto KRZR phone
- apparently, the newspaper was from April 7, 2007, coincidentally the anny of Kurt Cobain's suicide... and "Scentless Apprentice" was played in Jack's car as he held the obit...
Charlie had to fulfill his fate. He COULD have survived, but he accepted his fate with faith that his selfless act would assure Claire and Aaron's escape from the island.

Correction. I guess it was the April 5 LA Times. (For real).

That website shows it was Locke in the coffin. But look at the picture of the coffin. The viewing section on an adult coffin is a third or less of the length. In the picture it looks like nearly half, like it's for a small person (Ben?) or a child (?), but Locke was 6 feet or so. Doesn't fit.
This is alleged to be the entire text of the article, leaked by someone associated with the show:
"The body of John Lantham of New York was found shortly after 4 am in the 4300 block of Grand Avenue.
Ted Worden, a doorman at the Tower Lofts complex, heard loud noises coming from the victim's loft.
Concerned for tenants' safety, he entered the loft and found the body hanging from a beam in the living room.
According to Jaime Ortiz, a police spokesman, the incident was deemed a suicide after medical tests. Latham (sic) is survived by one teenaged son.
Memorial services will be held at the Hoffs-Drawlar Funeral Home tomorrow evening."

Isn't Locke Lantham? One and the same? This was supposedly the article Jack read on the plane.
But was that article readable from the show or is this like a photoshop job by some idiot trying to fool everybody on the internet? Who really doesn't know a thing.

Oh, I rewatched most of the episode already. Regarding Jack's father still being alive, I think Jack's references to him are just a result of Jack being drunk/drugged up.
First instance, at the pharmacy trying to refill his rx, when the assistant says she'll have to call Jack's father, Jack immediately says "He's out of town" before throwing his temper tantrum and storming off. Definately just sounds like he was making an excuse but got called on it. He knew his dad was dead because he was sort of coming down off the drugs he was trying to get again.
In the hospital when he says to go get his dad and that the new chief of surgery could fire Jack if Jack was more drunk than his dad. Well, that about says it all. . .Jack was probably drunk and he had just taken some pills before the conversation and probably didn't even know what was going on. Notice how the new chief of surgery didnt budge and just sort of looked at Jack like he was pathetic when he mentioned his father.
