At the very least, if you buy a Mac now, you can upgrade to the newest version when it comes out for a pretty low price under their Mac OS Up To Date program.

I see now that the upgrade to Jaguar is only going to be $20, so there is little financial advantage to waiting.

Is upgrading OSX to 10.2 likely to be anywhere near as painful as upgrading most Micro$oft OS's?

I have the PowerBook G4 Titanium. It has never crashed. I use it for video and graphics, mostly at work. I've been using PC's for years and am impressed by the stability of OSX. Now I find my self asking, "Am I on the Mac or PC...Let's see, what key combination do I need for this." Jaguar is to OSX what Win 98-2nd Ed. is to 98 (IMHO).

No way! Going from OSX 10.1.5 to 10.2 won't actually be that big a deal, as far as file modification goes. It all uses unix style packages so things can be rolled back, etc.

You'll be fine.

I used to read these websites almost daily:

http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/
http://www.macintouch.com/

They may not have exactly what you are looking for, but they were my favorites. Hope this helps!

So I am thinking of getting an 800MHz G4 PowerMac and either running it with my existing 15" flat screen or buying the apple 17" flat screen and running both at the same time.

Any thoughts?
