Mall Food- New idea - whatcha think?
edit:
i need a cool name for this shithole ...
I was informed that the Auntie Anne's pretzel place brings in well over $500k a year out of 200sq ft mall kiosk!!! DAMN!!!! So much for trying to compete with them. apparently even the Orange Julius was grossing over $300k a year....
How about this. It is basically anything that normally sells well at a fair but is not currently offered in this mall. Would be open from 10am-9:00pm. Rent is about $2500 a month.

- Energy Drinks - for some reason there is no place in the mall that sells them (Red bull, Monster, etc..)
- Kettle Corn - at $4.00 a bag, people buy it like crazy at fair . Figured I could get it delivered fresh daily and sell it without having to do anything (maybe start with 50 bags and see how it goes)
- Pretzels - buy in bulk fresh from Philadelphia Pretzels for $.30 ($30 for 100)then sell for $1.50-2.00 (start with 100 pretzels and see how it goes)
- fresh squeezed lemonade like at the fair - $3.00 (cost of a lemon, some sugar and some ice)
- Fountain Drinks - have a huge selection - $1.50 for a 32oz free refills (ya, some a-hole will drink 4 of them, but most won't).
- Possibly Lottery tickets if allowed(currently no one in the mall sells any)
- Slush Machine of some sort
Possibly cook these items - hot or italian sausauge like you get at the local fair with peppers and onions (need to have a grill and storage for them to stay hot)
- funnel cakes - like you get at the fair - (need a deep fryer)
You were close with the Kettle Corn idea, I remember a place that sold kettle and many other kinds of popcorn that was coated and flavored, you can even dip them in chocolate then hire me to stand in line and use my jesus powers to make hoards of mobs all show up.
This corn could go from 4-12 dollars a bag, but the chocolate dipped was smaller and slightly more expensive. Since malls are full of fat ass trend whores, market something that they wana be seen with. Just think of starbucks, most people treat it as a status symbol to walk around with a cup label starbucks. Fat asses love salt, carbs and sweet things so combine that all in one bag and you win.

so i add a few more unhealthy things and call it
"EVERYTHING FRIED"....?
"ALL GREASE"
"CALL YOUR DOCTOR"
I did think that hiring hot chicks to work and have the tip jar up front may be a good idea.... "daisy duke" mondays, "school girl" tuesdays, etc...

teriyaki place in a mall near by my work brings in 2+ mil a year. that place is always crowded and probably the most crowded restaurant in that mall. it's ridiculous.
for $4.75 you can get a big ass bag of unhealthy popcorn at my place...

or a pretzel and a can of Monster.... lol....
I don't know if this is a franchise, but the popcorn is some of the best I ever tasted . . . www.daleandthomaspopcorn.com
Someone also mentioned cupcakes in your other thread. That has to be a serious money-maker. I can count 4 or 5 stores dedicated to only cupcakes within 15 minutes of my house. I've actually looked into it but I think the local market is saturated. This one just opened a very high-end mall near me (www.mrcupcakes.com)
