It has been known for a while that someone once tried to sue Porsche after a high speed crash. They failed.
As to Mr. Barber, here in Oz we had a news report about 2/3 weeks ago that the fast food chains in the US were gearing up for this type of lawsuit. So either the companies knew it was going to hit them or Mr Barber and his lawyer saw a local newsfeed and decided to go for it.
