I'm getting ready to purchase an engagement ring and have a couple thoughts in my head of how to propose. I'm just curious how any of you proposed or were proposed to. If it was all movie-like, romantic/cheesy or just casual?

 

I proposed in a really simple manner at my house after a romantic dinner. We just sat on the couch and I asked her. It worked for me, but what do I know? We broke up a month and a half later, so I hope it goes better for you. Good luck!

 

My wife knew I had the ring, so she searched my apartment for it for weeks on end. I was supposed to propse in Ireland, but I couldn't wait any longer so I proposed at my place one night.

She was happy but almost threw up, very romantic

She still loves that ring.

 

My gf wants me to propose to her at a Phillies game. No joke. That's why I'm going to marry this girl

 

Depends on the girl and you know her best. Some girls want it really shlocky, some don't.

You can always do it over dinner at her favorite restaurant. That is if it is a nice place, you don't want to ask her at her favorite restaurant if it is a Chili's.

If she is outdoorsy, you could go for a nice sping walk in the park and ask her in a quiet spot.

You can surprise her at work, or have her friends take her out some place and you show up and ask in front of them.

All depends on what she likes and what kind of person she is and only you know that. It will mean more if you come up with somethingthat is distinctly her than if you just use what someone else did.

 

Is she pregnant? why ask if she isn't?

Even though I just moved out after 14 years of marriage........

I proposed via having the police pull her over for doing a U-Turn....(she did it every morning from our apartment (we slept in seperate beds...no in sin. )....I had given them the ring and flowers the night before.... then like a peeping tom i hid behind a tree right by where they pulled her over.

"Take a ticket or these flowers and ring from the idiot behind the tree"...

If you must go through with it (aahah) think of something creative...

 

Get her to propose to you.

 

I just did the wire transfer for a ring two days ago. I'm still working out the details for the proposal. Got a bunch of ideas but nothing set in stone yet.

My now-hubby and I had talked about getting married, so I knew he was going to propose at some point. I always thought it was unfair that the girl gets a ring and the guy gets nothing, so when the Nikon D80 came out, I bought it for him. About a month later we went out with friends on the premise that we were going to take pictures and learn to use the camera better. I was standing by the falls (sentimental for us) taking a picture and next thing you know...



Our friends took a bazillion pictures - it was really cool to have that moment captured that way!
