I kept blowing it off saying not unless we are in Paris on New Years. Watchin the show i just turned her towards me and said i know its not Paris but.......... you get the picture. a year and 6 months later and shes moved 4300 miles to move in with me. We had talked about getting married for a while, and she had pointed out what she liked in a ring several times. I played the "no money" game for a while, so she wasn't expecting one any time soon...

Then, right before X-mas, the local zoo was having a holiday feature at night with lights and carolers and stuff. Before going to the zoo, we had to stop at WalMart. This part wasn't planned, but in their bin of cheap fake jewlery, they had a ring that looked similar to what she liked (just alot cheaper). I pulled it out and fake proposed in walmart. She laughed and we went on.

Once at the zoo, we were enjoying the sights, and it was quite cold. At one point, while we were walking, I got on one knee and did popped the question. Mind you it was on gravel and one of those trains with wheels was coming towards us. She now thought I was kidding and had swiped the walmart fake ring

After a few "quit playing" and "stop joking" from her, I finaly told her to give me an answer because we were going to get run over by the train or my knee was going to fall off from the gravel. Once she realized the ring was real, she went nuts and started screaming. Everyone on the train thought we were nuts. Worked out good for us.

Whatever you do, don't hide the ring in food or beverage. It doesn't work out like the movies. I have 2 friends that can tell you that.
