Milk It

DuPuis points out that only Saharan nomads and Northern Europeans are genetically adapted to lactose tolerance.
DuPuis argues that milk is neither as good as the early temperance reformers and the modern Dairy Council claim nor as poisonous as today's vegan activists would have one believe.
She explains the inundation of milk propaganda as part of a longstanding relationship between agriculture and politics. Dairy farmers, says DuPuis, are paid more money for fluid milk, so legislators support legislation that increases milk drinking and the advertising dollars pumped into promoting it.
For those of us who are genetically adapted to drink it (me) milk is an extremely nutritious thing to drink. The Masai people live on basically nothing but milk and cow's blood. Lactose tolerance evolved in herdspeople for a reason, and was a strong contributor to the success of their societies and perhaps even the establishment of agrarian civilisations.
Yeah, this article DOES point out the insidious power of advertising though.
Look at "fast food". Essentially selling fat as food and spending tons of money to brain-washing people into ruining their health. Of course, this IS protected under the 1st amendments' protection of "people with lots of money"; and I CERTAINLY wouldn't want the evil gov'ment trying to protect me from the rich people. So, don't get me wrong here!

I am of the belief, based on my own experience, that your body turns lactose tolerance on and off like a switch. Mine turned off when I was 19. Before that, I was a major dairy freak. Now, I just get painful stomach aches if I drink some milk or eat ice cream. I think it is my body telling me that this substance is no longer helping me. It makes you a fat-ass anyway, which was probably a good thing for northern europeans that lived in ice and snow and cold wind. When I stopped eating cereal in the morning, my body fat dropped almost immediately to a much more comfortable level. These are my non-scientific observations.
