I found an interesting article on the original Mini (new Mini story coming next week). Go to:

With only 70 BMW U.S. dealerships getting the MINI, I thought it
was interesting that I spoke with two Dallas area dealers
with both of them saying they were going to be a dealer
Maybe they are both right.

Anyone know where I can get a list of dealers that are taking people to sign up? Also, any word on when the 'S' variant will be in the states. Ive loved the mini since I first saw one, and definetly wounldnt mind it as a commuter.

According to what I have been told by two dealers you can't
get on a list because nobody has a franchise yet.
You can do what I did and get on a list to get on the official list.
They(dealers) also say the car is about a year and a half away.

Pellis,

Forget the new one, get the classic! There's a place up in Santa Rosa importing them and prices are fair for what they are. Super nice guy, I visited them when I had my mini... loved that car.

loki,

While I DO like the old mini, the price of the older ones is a little more than I'm willing to pay.. especially considering the likely price of the new one (so long as the dealers dont 's2000' with the price.).

Get in quick and get it in writing. I have already been told by several dealerships (who are expecting to be Mini dealers) that they plan to sell them at "market price".

And you know how the Bay Area is for that...

A more informative place I use to haunt is:

As like this site and bimmer.org, you'll get information quicker.
