The mainstream of mma has really gone to crap, but it has its advantages, with it being more popular you're going to see some better promotions and if you train or want to compete you have a much better shot of going professional if you are halfway decent. On top of this look at the popularity from the fighters standpoint, if you aren't a first tier guy you aren't making much money, with more popularity you at least will get some more time in the spotlight and hopefully money. At my gym we get the occasional guy who saw an episode of ufc unleashed took karate as a kid and comes in thinking he's gonna kick you in the face 100000 times, they all get shit for it some straighten up and some just leave. As far as schools it depend where you go, 'bigger' schools you get more dickheads. Simply said. People see GRACIE and they go crazy. But UFC has gone to shit, I prefer to sit around and watch old pride and I'm waiting for dream to take off and I hope Affliction continues to promote fights as their own promotion

Seems that MMA has become main stream and taken a differnt course IMO. I used to be in it and it used to be like a fraternity and sportsmanship was the primary focus. Now it seems to be all dudes who assume they are bad asses and are just totally giving the sport the white trash image.

MMA and Tapout is the new Nascar.

Just my view, please comment and share ^^.

At a car meet this weekend I saw the skinniest runt kid wearing a TAPOUT shirt. I just laughed.

It sucks when the things that are near and dear to you go mainstream.....

Many of the shirts (Affliction and related) look decent, as long as you have a reasonably built body. They do cost $$ though, and $25 for a cheap tshirt is something I only blow now and then.

The big problem is it seems like EVERY highschool and college aged male thinks they are the Iceman. I almost want to pick fights with these people =(

It always strikes me as a bit odd that these guys get such big heads. I have trained in a few different disciplines and I remember getting tapped out by little girls much younger than myself when I first started. I have progressed considerably since then but it would be hard to walk around thinking you're a huge bad ass with a memory of a little girl tapping you out. Everywhere that I have trained it's all about helping one another out and surprisingly enough ego's are almost non-existent.

I agree with this comment here. I'm actually embarassed to wear my old UFC or Tapout shirt in public now. I bought them a long time ago. I do have a pride shirt and sakuraba shirt that I still wear though because not as many people know what that is.

I work at bar and every weekend we have type of guy coming in with an affliction shirt on. Typical somewhat in shape guy trying to act like a hard ass. I do like some of the shirts but I think they are overpriced and cant bring myself to wear them now that every douchebag wheres them (no offense to anyone who is in real MMA).

Someone needs to make a "my new hair cut" video for "my new affliction shirt".

"You see this. This is my new affliction shirt. You know what that means? I'm gettin some pussy tonight. My boys they all have the same shirt. They're gettin some pussy tonight too."
