What are you talking about? Japanese-Americans were send to camps during WWII. They lost their home, jobs, and were forced to move. I know it's not as bad as other camps in the past history, but you can't say that US were "Nice" to Japanese during WWII.

And you think bombing of Pearl Harbor was bad, at least it was military ground. The Atomic bombs were droped in civilians. I know it was war, but I personally think we could of won without the bombs. Japanese Navy was destroyed at the time of the bombing, and all we had to do was cut off suplies to the main land until they gave up.

Sorry, I didn't want to turn this into History topic..

Damn, I hate threads like that ... It just doesn't stop when Eltianti starts. Aren't you bored talking about everything someone else is accomplishing in your country? Why don't we hear your personal accomplishments next time? This is probably gonna be good for a league in the Book of Guiness for the biggest ego.

While there is not doubt that those people were robbed of their freedom and property, and it was wrong, you must consider. None were killed, none were tortured, none were beheaded, none were denied medical attention, none were dissected while still alive, none were force to work until death, and none were starved. None of the women were forced to be sex slaves nor were they raped. If fact they were all well fed and all had shelter and access to medical attention. Further any of the men could leave the camps if they enlisted. True, it was a raw deal, but you can bet any of the US soldier (or any Korean or Chinese or Philippino suffering under Japanese Occupation) in Japanese POWs camps would have traded places if they could.
Your right, anyone under enemies POW camps would of traded places...... but the key word here is "POW". The people who were send to these so call camps (Prison) were not POW's. They had nothing to do with the war. Most of them were American born citizens.

It was widely believed that the new WRA internment camps would be better than the temporary assembly centers. Unfortunately, the evacuees encountered many of the previous problems of the assembly centers. The train trips to the internment camps were often uncomfortable. In a majority of the cases the toilets flooded and ventilation was poor due to the shades being drawn on the windows. Furthermore some of the guards harassed evacuees. One evacuee told the following story:

At Parker, Arizona, we were transferred to buses. With baggage and carryalls hanging from my arm, I was contemplating what I could leave behind since my husband was not allowed to come to my aid. A soldier said, "Let me help, put your arm out." He proceeded to pile everything on my arm. And to my horror, he placed my two-month-old baby on top of the stack. He then pushed with the butt of the gun and told me to get off the train, knowing when I stepped off the train my baby would fall to the ground. I refused. But he kept prodding and ordering me to move. I will always be thankful [that] a lieutenant checking the cars came upon us. He took the baby down, gave her to me, and then ordered the soldier to carry all our belongings to the bus and see that I was seated and then report back to him (quoted in Commission on Wartime Relocation and Internment of Civilians 1997: 151).

Once the evacuees stepped onto the grounds of the internment camps they officially came under the jurisdiction of the WRA. The internment camps were located in interior desolate area and were built from scrap. Like the assembly centers they were surrounded by barbed wire, watchtowers, and armed guards. The evacuees once again found themselves in a prison.

The war brings out the worst in people. If you look at any nations history, you will find the dark side. Point here is that you can't justify the wrong doing by comparing it to other wrong doing. Have you heard "Two wrongs doesn't equal right?" I am sure these camps were a lot better off then other POW camps, but it doesn't make it okay.

I think you're misunderstanding Platinum, who is saying that back when it happened it brought out the worst in people. And BTW, who aside from ElTianti do you think it's bring out the worst in now?

Also, on the present day, I think you're mistaken. I think there are a lot of Japanese Vets who feel betrayed by their country over WWII. I think you'd find there is still a good deal of bitterness amongst some of them.
