The PT Cruiser!

I was getting my hair cut tonight and picked MT while I was waiting. I actually lol'd when I turned to the page that announced this fact. And no, I didn't read the whole article, but I did notice that there seemed to be a lot of blather about it throughout parts that I DID read.

I do admire Chrysler for having the cojones to design something like that, but car of the year?! It's a Neon with a body kit!!

Anyway, I thought it was a bizarro choice...anyone else see this?

I hate those damn things. It's kind of funny. Chrysler put a year 2000 spin on an old design, but I think the cruiser looked dated by the time I saw the second one in real life.

I agree, the novelty wears off quickly, but FlyingPig: "the worst" Have you seen an AMC Pacer?

This thread is not going to get Greg in any better standing with Annette, is it Laird?

I don't think I would have given the award to the PT Cruiser. I liked some of the others better.

The exterior IMO looks cool, but the interior kinda reminds me of my dad's '74 Pinto and 'XX Plymouth Horizon from way back. They could have at least given it a decent interior and more giddy-up-and-go.

Someone reported in an earlier thread that the PT basically fell apart in standard crash tests. That's not really acceptable for a brand new car, is it?

My wife has a PT. For the price, it is a hellava car, especially for her. If you are looking for a 0-60 car, this ain't it. But for day to day practicality with visual pizazz, it fills the bill. The PT draws as many people as the S2K at local cruise ins. It is well built, the interior is great(we have the limited with leather), a very good sound system, no squeeks or rattles, no second gear grind and it has a CLOCK. And it cost $12,000 less than the S2K. It can carry four adults, or take out the seats and it works as a van and can carry quite a bit of cargo.

As with any car, it depends on what you are going to do with it.

My nickles worth based on actual knowledge..
