Well...

Petersen Ventures, publisher of S2000 International and in no way connected with Petersen Publishing, is pleased to announce that the car of the year is...drum roll...

The Honda S2000

Yippee!!

Now who do I see about that multi-million dollar ad campaign...

This supposed "scam" comes as no surprise to me. After reading the last two years worth of MT C.O.T.Y and MT S.U.V of the year, I have come to realise that the magazine is little more than an advocate for domestic manufacturers at best. I suppose this entire thread begs the question; has anyone actually written a letter or email to MT to this effect? I'm sure that we aren't the only consumers sensing some conspiracy in such MT annual features?

well, it will be hard to send in that complaint letter now...motortrend is no longer owned by petersen/emapusa.com they are now owned by primedia - which also bought mcmullen argus(another big publishing house) as well - so now the only major auto magazines not with primedia are: car and driver, road & track and autoweek. Everything else is pretty much primedia publications

so most everything will be published by the same group - it will either get better, or....

MT is not a good magazine by any measure. A car magazine that completely dismisses the S2000 because of it's torque numbers must not be interested in cars. Thanks for revealing them for the scam artists that they are.

I guess any magazine that owes it's existence to advertising is prone to this kind of COTY mentality. While I often don't agree with Consumer Reports, at least their judgements are not affected by advertising revenue.
