Firstly there is WAAAAAAAY more than just fairing/cosmetic damage there. The 1st guy may seem aright from the video but I'll tell you he's gotta have some road rash going down in just jeans, which any concrete road will eat up.

As for who's fault, it's rider #2 for the most part... although rider #1 isn't completely innocent either.

yikes!

yikes!
Trust me I know from personal experience. About 2 years ago my man and I feel off his uncle's bike. I know it was a Katana( pretty cheesy btw) as far as the year i think it was a 94'. Well anyways we were about to take off from his buddy's house when all off a sudden the back wheel locked up and next thing you know we're on the ground. It all happened so fast!!! We barely just taking off!! I don't know if there were loose pebbles on the pavement, a small oil slick that did it or was it too sharp of a turn?? I remember sliding about 15ft before the front tire hit the curb and we came to a stop.
My intial reaction was to put my hand down.( knowing that this wasn't going to stop the bike.) We ended up dumping on the right side. His friend and a few neigbors in the neighborhood came by and pulled the bike of of us. My man reaction was to hurry up and get the bike off me. I was in so much shock, that I could only start laughing.( crazy isn't). i laid there for minute in the same position that i fell in. Luckily I was wearing jeans and a long sleeve jacket with some sneakers. I should have been wearing a helmet( I know I know shame on me) My hand got little bruised from the impact and very minor road rash. If it weren't for my ring, my finger would have gotten pretty chewed up. At first I couldn't feel my leg or my ankle. I got a pretty nice shiner of a bruise on my knee. My jeans got pretty chewed up and so did my sneakers. My pinky toe was exposed!!!
As far as my man he got some road rash on his hip, hand and on his shoulder. He was wearing a t- shirt two sweaters and a windbreaker and the road still managed to eat a hole through to his skin. When I finally came to my feet I was still laughing. I guess this was the only way i could calm myself. Damage was minor to the bike. A new right taillight, rearview mirror and fairing had to be replaced. Luckily the bike was still rideable(sp?) All the neighbors and his friends were shocked. My man decided to get back on the bike and take to his uncle's house. His friend offer to give me a ride but I decided to get back on. I didn't want this experience to create a fear for bikes. Even after the fact I still want a sportbike. This experience has actually taught me to respect them even more.

Typical jeans have a 3 to 5 foot slide life expectancy on concrete. I wear armored Cordura Nylon pants and jacket. They will slide 50+ feet without tear-through. There's nothing like thick dead cow (racing leathers) but you have to be a nut to ride everywhere wearing 3+ mm leathers in hot weather.

Me? I've used my Roadcrafter suit for the past 5years... love it. If you ride in hotter weather get the Darien, either way you can't go wrong.
