I would probably kill him myself given the chance. Chances are he'll be VERY well protected in jail. Inmates, especially those already serving a life sentence, probably wouldn't hesitate to take his pathetic life.

Seriously though, what would lead the jurors to come to that verdict?

Ummmmm, Jeffery Dahmer did not make it that long so I would not be so sure he lives too long.

But I am fine with him getting it in the shower for the next hundred years.

Yeah let him rot in prison for the rest of his life. He probably wanted to die anyway; I rather not give him what he wants

might as well also make the most of it and make him wear a 2-piece thong bikini and a blonde wig instead of the usual orange jumpsuit

Three of the jurors decided that although he did conspire in a plot that would end up killing thousands, they thought that his "role" in the attacks was minimal at best. But, it doesn't surprise me at all considering the FBI never even saw him as a threat in the first place, and ignored all the evidence that even the French had on the guy. He will not rot in jail, he will get a cell, meals, perhaps go to the gym, but he'll read most likely. He should be dead.

the guy is going to be kept in a cell for the duration. He most likely will be kept in effective solitary due to the risk of letting him mingle with the general population. He'll never see the sun rise or set, he'll never ba able to choose how to spend his day, he'll die alone and friendless in a concrete room with zero amenities. He's gonna have a good long wait for his "reward," if everyone does their job. I fail to see how killing him would be greater punishment. His former associates will know that they risk getting trapped in a tiny cell for the rest of their lives, buried deep inside the land of their "enemy" for simply participating in the planning of such an operation. No glorious death awaits, simply tedium, monotony, fear, and a long time later, a miserable and pathetic expiration.

Besides, it's cheaper to keep in prison for life than put him to death.

Not that I don't necessarily believe you but do you have a link of proof to this claim. I would have thought otherwise, which is why I'm asking for reading material.
