Alright, by downloading an extension I got it to ALMOST always open a new tab in the same window, but ctrl+n still gives me a new window. Any ideas?

Here's a few tweaks for you guys...

Type "about:config" in your firefox address bar. The settings you're looking for are:

1.) network.http.pipelining
2.) network.http.pipelining.firstrequest
3.) network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
4.) network.http.proxy.pipelining

Set #1, #2, and #4 to "true". Set #3 to a high number, like 32. If some of the settings aren't there, just create them.
#2 doesnt exist

Reread the last line of your quote: "If some of the settings aren't there, just create them."

Tab x - adds an 'x' in the top right of the tab marker (not the screen just the tab) that allows you to close the thread. This ones good if you're trying to keep the mileage down on your mouse
Can't find this either, and i want them!!

Single window gets rid of all the tabbed browsing probs with links opening new instances of firefox etc

I also used to have one which kept all tabs after firefox closed, and re-opened how it was when closed, cant remember what this was called

Just uninstall and blow away the mozilla program folder. You might have to re-install extensions (depending on how they were installed), but that's no bigee.
