Must do's/see's in New York??
So exams are finally over, and I thought i'd reward myself with a trip somewhere relatively nearby. I was thinking of going to New York with a couple friends, most likely by train.. We'd only be there for 3 nights due to funds.. Can anyone reccommend an area or hotel that is accessible and close to most major attractions? (ideal location?), and what essential activities and sights must be seen in New York if only given a limited period of time? Thanks in advance.
Hotels:
-W Times Square if you want trendy and convenient.
-Hudson Hotel if you want trendy and chi chi.
-Mandarin Oriental if you want trendy and swank. . . and have tons of cash.
-SoHo Grand if you want trendy and in a great area.
All are relatively expensive, but fun places to stay/eat/drink. Actually, I wouldn't suggest that course of action, since there are far more bars and restaurants t try throughout the city.
God, there are tons upon tons of great places in NYC. I could start listing them, but it would take hours. Try this website for quick ideas:

hey, I was just there several weeks ago for my first time. Since you are a young guy, I'd say definitely go do some shopping in Soho and get all kinds of cool gear/clothes that no one else will have. Hang out for food and drinks in the east village. That area never shuts down! You're gonan love it.
No problem. Look at "Best of New York" on the Citysearch website. It ranks hotels, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs for you.
If you like Asian-fusion food, I suggest trying Tao and Asia de Cuba. I've eaten at both recently and was impressed with the decor and food. Plus, 50 Cent was at Tao the night I was there. . .
Woo Le Oak is good Korean. Bluefin is good seafood. Terrance Brennan has good steak. These are places I can reccommend from experience.

Oh, if you want to eat within a tighter budget, you can't go wrong with Gray's Papaya hot dogs. . . 75 cents! Also, there are great, super cheap Indian restaurants downtown. I can't remember the name/address, but I've gone on a date for <$25 there once (I'm sure this is really helpful info.).
Man, this is fun. . . hmm, let me think of some good bars next (as long as I don't have to do any work, but something tells me I'd better get cracking).
