My boss is an idiot!
I forgot an important piece in my original post. My boss didn't schedule a projectionist from 4:30 to 6:00 because she's cheap and didn't want to pay someone to sit up there and manage the projectionists.
Also, I don't work registers because the guys who work downstairs have completely different machines and a whole speech they gotta say to customers. Hell, I don't even know how to work the coffee machine.
Anyways, this is the 3rd set of management the company has had in a year, and the company is being bought at the end of this month. They really need to get their act together.

Come on, he works at a movie theater, not a hospital or flys a plane. After working retail, at a restaraunt and all those bad jobs, the management treat people like crap, no matter what kind of employee you are (unless you're sleeping with them).
It sounded like you really didn't want the job anyway, so walking out was fine. I just wouldn't use them as a reference.
I once did something similar as a consultant:
I worked for [the devil] for 18 months. They forced me to do things that were not in my job description, like sales and buying clients lunch on my own paycheck. They wouldn't give me a raise until I blackmaled them by saying I was quitting unless i got a 20k raise. They said see ya, tried to replace me, and couldn't because of how the client I worked for loved me. They had paperwork ready the next day. After that point, I never talked to the company, only sent in my hours and got a paycheck. I then began looking for a new job. When i finally quit, they tried to get me to pay back a bunch of things I wasn't responsible for, so I told the client, "I'm just going to play solitare for the next week, do you want to pay for that?" They said no, and I wished them well, called the company I worked for and told them I didn't feel like working the next week. They said I had to, I said make me and hung up the phone.
I'll never use them as a reference, but you got to stand up for yourself. Some of these managers are freakin idiots. It's better to stand up and walk out instead of putting up with crap like that, if that's how the story went.
You can get a better job that pays more that $40!

I didn't walk out, I just told her to give my Sunday shift to someone else. Either today or tomorrow I'm gonna go in there, tell her I'd like to quit on good terms, and ask if she wants me to train someone to take my place.
I really did like my job as a projectionist, but I simply can't work there for so little money any more.

I agree with airgate...we cut hours of employees as a subtle hint to go find another job with their free time.
