Default My vacuum broke what is a good replacement?

I want one that is strong (my dog is a major shedding machine) portable (2 story house with carpeted stairs) and bagless.

Anyone have experience with vacs that can point me in the right direction?

My house vac died and that's probably good because it's a handme down from my parents and about 12 years old. With the big dog and a baby coming I want a strong vac.

I ended up buying this EUREKA 4885 Bagless

It's highly rated and supposed to work as well as the Dysons for a couple hundred less. It actually uses some dyson technology that went off patent. We'll see how well it sucks!

Buying something because it really sucks! What a concept.
